Tampa remain at the top of the Atlantic Division, but their advantage has diminished after the Canadiens have recorded five straight wins, and seven victories in their last ten.
The Tampa Bay Lightning holds the advantage in the race for playoff places in the Eastern Conference at this late stage. They have gone 46-21-6 overall this term, and have continued to excel in recent weeks after winning seven of their last ten.
Tampa have recorded victories in each of their last two, scoring seven goals in the process and allowing four. Their latest win was achieved on home ice against the Nashville Predators on Sunday, with Jake Guentzel and Brandon Hagel both scoring in the 3-2 victory.
The Montreal Canadiens are enjoying a strong end to the season after winning five on the bounce, and recording victories in seven of their previous ten. That run of form sees the Habs sit third in the Atlantic Division, and they are just four points shy of the Lightning at the top of the standings.
Montreal’s red-hot period of form continued on Sunday, as they registered a 3-1 road success against the Carolina Hurricanes. All three of their goals were scored in the second period, with Nick Suzuki scoring twice and recording an assist.
