Event Preview

A pulsating start to the NASCAR Cup Series continues this weekend, as Phoenix Raceway hosts the fourth event on the calendar. The Straight Talk Wireless 500 has been on the calendar since 2005, with the drivers set to complete a total distance of 312 miles, which is made up of 312 laps.

All eyes will be on Tyler Reddick this weekend. The runaway leader in the Drivers’ Championship at this stage made history in the DuraMAX Grand Prix, becoming the first driver in NASCAR history to win each of the opening three races at the start of a new season.

Chase Elliott should also be respected after achieving top-ten finishes in two of the first three races. Michael McDowell is an outsider worth considering after starting the campaign in red-hot form, improving his consistency with a fifth-place finish last time out.

Christopher Bell finished third last time out, ending his run of finishing outside of the opening 20 in each of the opening two rounds. Bell’s excellent record in this race makes him a leading contender, with the driver having won the last two editions of the Straight Talk Wireless 500.

Straight Talk Wireless 500 Picks

Chase Briscoe endured a miserable run at the Texas Grand Prix last weekend, despite claiming the fastest lap. His second in the Autotrader 400 indicates that he remains in strong form, and he could be worth chancing at +2000 after previously winning the race in 2022.
