  • Newcastle slipped to a disappointing home defeat against Everton on Saturday
  • Man United have won six of their last seven under Michael Carrick

Heavyweight rivals collide in the Premier League on March 4, as red-hot Man United bid to maintain their dominant run of form when they travel to Newcastle.

Michael Carrick’s impression has been immediate at United, winning six of their last seven to climb up to third in the EPL standings.

Meanwhile, Newcastle’s European dreams appear to be faltering after losing four of their last five in the English top-flight.

Magpies Dropping Down EPL Standings

For the first time in his reign, questions are beginning to be asked of Eddie Howe at Newcastle. The Magpies have dropped to 13th in the Premier League standings after losing four of their last five, with their defeat at home to Everton on Saturday meaning that they have lost two on the bounce.

The team’s home form would be a major concern this week, as the Magpies have lost three straight games at St. James’ Park. They haven’t endured a longer losing run since October 2018. Newcastle’s attacking players have underperformed this term, and more will be expected of Anthony Gordon.

The England international has scored just three league goals from 38 shots, meaning that he is operating at an 8% conversion rate.

Red Devils Cruising Under Carrick

Michael Carrick has enjoyed a remarkable start to life at Man United, with the Red Devils remaining the only club unbeaten in the EPL in 2026. United won for the sixth time in seven under Carrick on Sunday, coming back from a goal down to beat Crystal Palace 2-1.

The victory shows how far the club have come, as they were eleven points behind Aston Villa when Carrick took over, but the Red Devils now sit above their European rivals.

On the road, United have shown excellent character, losing just one of their last eleven. Bruno Fernandes has been one of the stars of the season, with the Portuguese having racked up 13 assists, which is the most by any United player since Antonio Valencia in 2011-12.

Possible Lineup
(4-2-3-1) Lammens (GK); Dalot, Yoro, Maguire, Shaw; Casemiro, Mainoo; Amad, Fernandes, Cunha; Mbeumo

Newcastle vs. Man United Picks

Newcastle have an excellent record against United, winning their last three at home against the Red Devils. However, we could foresee the Red Devils showing their character to pick up a vital point on Wednesday in what is likely regarded as their most challenging remaining away fixture in 2025-26.
