Vegas resumed their season in fine style, recording a win over the LA Kings to stretch their winning sequence to three games.
Meanwhile, the Capitals kept their playoff dreams on track with a strong performance in midweek, meaning that they have now won their last two.
Spencer Carbery would have been delighted with the performance levels shown by his Washington Capitals side, as they returned to action with a dominant home showing against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday.
The win improved their record to 30-23-7, with two of their efforts being scored in the final period to secure the win.
Rasmus Sandin and Trevor van Riemsdyk both scored in the win, while Declan Shisholm, Hendrix Lapierre, and Jakob Chychrun all ended the night with assists.
The Vegas Golden Knights will be aiming to extend their advantage at the top of the Pacific Division this weekend.
Vegas come into this round in solid form, winning each of their last three either side of the Winter Olympics break. The Golden Knights' offense sparkled in California on Wednesday, as the franchise landed a 6-4 road win.
Tanner Laczynski ended the night with three assists, while Pavel Dorofeyev scored twice.
