There will be increased pressure on Washington when the NHL resumes, as the Caps sit fifth in the Metropolitan Division after going 5-4-1 across their last ten.
Meanwhile, the Flyers sit a place below their visitors in the current standings after losing four of their last ten in regulation time.
Rick Tocchet’s Philadelphia Flyers still have a leading chance to finish in a playoff spot this term, with their biggest strength to this point being their home form.
The Flyers have gone 13-9-7 at Xfinity Mobile Arena, but they come into the restart following a home loss against the Ottawa Senators on Feb 5.
Travis Konecny has been the team’s leading player this season, scoring franchise-highs for goals, assists, and points.
The Washington Capitals will still be one of the leading chances to achieve a playoff finish in the Eastern Conference, but they will need to rediscover their consistency.
The Caps have won five of their last ten, but they have also suffered four regulation time losses over the same period. Their offensive quality has been eye-catching throughout the campaign, with only the Penguins and Hurricanes scoring more goals in the division.
Spencer Carbery’s team have also been efficient in their travels, going 12-13-4. Tom Wilson has been a standout star, scoring a team-high 49 points.

The Capitals have been offensively strong throughout the season, and it is worth noting that they have won 49% of their home games against the Flyers. Therefore, it could be worth chancing the hosts powering back to form on their NHL return following the Winter Olympics.
