The game was close early, with Toronto leading by a slim one-point lead at the break. From there, the Tempo controlled the second half with a 51-39 edge, including a 20-13 advantage in the fourth quarter, helping close out the win.
Nyara Sabally led four double-digit scorers with 21 ponts and six rebounds. Maria Conde added 17 points, six rebounds, and four assists for a Toronto squad that shot 47 percent overall and 41 percent from beyond the arc.
Meanwhile, the Fire have dropped five straight following a blowout win over the Washington Mystics. Their latest setback was a 106-101 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks.
Neither team was able to create significant separation, as the game was tied at 72 through three quarters. However, Los Angeles' 34-29 edge in the final frame proved decisive, giving the Sparks just enough cushion to seal the win.
Bridget Carleton posted a 24-point, 11-rebound double-double. Carla Leite contributed 21 points and eight assists, while Megan DiLeo added 19 points and eight boards, giving Portland multiple contributors despite the loss.
