The Sparks trailed by as many as 14 points before rallying to trim the deficit to one with 7:40 left to play. Unfortunately, Chicago seized control, courtesy of a 13-3 run down the stretch, closing out the matchup.
Dearica Hamby scored a team-high 22 points and pulled down 14 rebounds. Erica Wheeler added 14 points and five assists, providing Los Angeles with a formidable one-two punch in a losing effort.
Meanwhile, the Lynx are clicking on all cylinders, reeling off 10 straight wins. Their latest triumph was a 108-100 victory over the Indiana Fever on Aug. 2.
Minnesota led 96-82 before the Fever trimmed the deficit to two with 2:30 left to play. But the league's top squad refused to fold, and timely buckets by Courtney Williams and Olivia Miles helped the Lynx prevail in crunch time
All five starters reached double figures for the Lynx. Miles set the tone, finishing with 28 points, six assists, and four rebounds. Williams added 27 points, five assists, and four rebounds, contributing to a unit that shot 57 percent overall and 44 percent from distance.
