The Giants Are Adept at Blowing Winnable Games

In Week 12, the Giants had a sizable lead against a good team. And again, they blew it. Against the Lions, they led 27-17 with just over 12 minutes remaining. But Jahmyr Gibbs ran for two long touchdowns, including a 69-yarder in overtime, to beat New York.

By now, despite interim head coach Mike Kafka trying to show he can handle the job and get the permanent gig, they're probably better off losing so they can get a higher draft pick.

Against the Patriots, the prevailing narrative will center on the Giants' two Super Bowl wins over Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. But that was a long, long, looooonnnng time ago.

Now, the Giants are terrible, and the Patriots look like they're on the way back to a possible Super Bowl run with Mike Vrabel and Drake Maye.

The Giants have a young QB of their own: Jaxson Dart. Dart has missed the last two games with a concussion, but is set to return in New England.

The rookie signal-caller has given the Giants and their fans hope. In his seven starts, he's accrued a 93.5 passer rating, thrown 10 TD passes, and 3 picks. The team needs to emphasize that he stop running headfirst and sacrificing his body for that extra yard.

Did You Expect the Patriots To Be 10-2?

The Patriots' season has been so magical that comparisons to 2001 are inevitable. While Drake Maye might not be ready to morph into Brady and the tuck rule no longer exists, the Pats' rise was totally unexpected. By now, perhaps the question as to whether the Patriots' dynasty was due to Belichick or Brady should be reframed to ask if it was really Bob Kraft.

New England has won nine straight. They have a bye and then a Week 15 matchup hosting the Bills. But if New England beats the Giants, their final two games of the season are against the Jets and Dolphins. They will almost assuredly win the AFC East. Now they're looking to get homefield advantage throughout the AFC bracket.

The Patriots are at zero in takeaway differential. They are vulnerable to the pass, ranked 17th in the league in defensive passing yards per game. But they smother the run and are sixth in points allowed per game.

New England will be without rookie tackle Will Campbell, on IR with a knee problem. The Giants have a decent pass rush led by Brian Burns, so this could present a challenge.

Giants vs Patriots NFL Pick

For Week 13 Giants-Patriots, this is about as far from a "Super Bowl rematch" as it could get. New England does, however, present a template for New York to turn things around with a young, dynamic QB. Now they just need to pick the right coach.

As for the game, the Pats know what's at stake and how important it is to get the win and maintain their commanding lead in the division over the Bills. They will beat the Giants relatively easily and cover the 7-point spread.
