The pressure continues to mount on the Vancouver Whitecaps, as their winless streak in all competitions was extended to four matches following a shock 1-0 loss in their Leagues Cup opener.
Goals have been in short supply in their recent outings, with their recent loss being the second time that they have failed to score in three outings. Creating chances was an alarming concern, as the Caps mustered just two shots on target against Atlante, despite having 67% of the ball.
Sebastian Berhalter’s departure has left a void in the midfield, meaning that there will be pressure on Thomas Muller to step up and prove his worth to the Caps in the second half of the season.

There was an expectation that Juarez would struggle in the Leagues Cup this year after losing each of their opening three fixtures in Liga MX.
However, the Mexican side produced a season-best display in their opening fixture to secure a 2-1 road win against Minnesota United. Juarez scored both of their goals in the opening 45 minutes, and they played a tactically strong game in the second period to hold on to the victory.
They were excellent in possession of the ball, and they were able to take advantage of the pace of Jose Rodriguez and Jairo Torres to get them further up the field.
The Caps are in desperate need of a return to form this week after going four without a victory. They should have the ability to end their winless run against a rival that has largely struggled defensively throughout the 2026 season.
