There should be newfound confidence within the Tigres ranks this weekend following a much-needed morale booster in their Leagues Cup opener earlier this week.
The Mexican club played out a 1-1 draw against Real Salt Lake, before holding their nerve to win the shootout 6-5. It was an important return to form by the club after failing to win in their opening three Liga MX fixtures of 2026.
Meanwhile, their defensive strength did improve after allowing five in their previous two domestic fixtures. Juan Brunetta scored the regulation goal for Tigres, and he will once again prove crucial after netting 19 goals in 42 appearances last season.

A change of competition did little to reverse the fortunes of Minnesota United this week. United have now failed to win in their previous eight in all competitions following a damaging 2-1 loss against Juarez earlier this week.
Minnesota were lackluster in the final third of the field, scoring once from eleven shots. Their only goal was scored by Tomas Chancalay in the 34th minute.
Playing at Allianz Field will be a concern for Minnesota this week, as they have failed to win in seven of their nine home fixtures. In fact, four of their six wins in 2026 have been achieved on the road.
Minnesota’s extremely poor record at Allianz Field is hard to dismiss this week. Therefore, the narrow preference is for Tigres UANL to record a second straight win in the Leagues Cup.
