Club America will bring confidence into their Leagues Cup opener on Thursday after making a red-hot start to the new Liga MX season.
They have recorded two wins in their opening three to sit top of the standings, while their defensive strength has been eye-catching. Club America have allowed just one goal so far this term, and they have restricted their opponents to an incredibly low xGA of 1.21.
Their vibrant play in the forward areas ensures that many stars have caught the eye, including Henry Josue Martin Mex and Isaias Violante Romero, who have both recorded two goal involvements in 2026.

San Diego will take confidence from their recent outings, having avoided defeat in each of their last two after back-to-back defeats against the Vancouver Whitecaps and Colorado.
However, it is worth noting that their attacking output has dipped in recent rounds, as they have failed to score more than once in their three outings since returning to action after the World Cup.
Playing on the road is also a major concern this week, as San Diego have won just once in their eight away fixtures, failing to score in 38% of their encounters and keeping clean sheets in just 13%.
The fact that San Diego travel to Mexico City on Thursday shouldn’t be dismissed this week, as the MLS club have lost 50% of their matches on the road in 2026. Therefore, the preference is for the in-form Liga MX leaders to stretch their unbeaten run.
