Belgium will be heavily favored to top a straightforward looking Group G at this summer’s World Cup. The Red Devils open their campaign against Egypt.
The African nation will be hopeful of finishing as the runners-up in Group G, meaning that they will be aiming for a positive start to the competition.

Belgium’s golden generation may have passed without winning a major honor, but Rudi Garcia still has a high-quality crop of stars available in his squad this summer.
The Red Devils eased through qualifying, winning five of their eight fixtures and scoring an impressive 29 goals. Their positive form has continued in 2026, winning three of their four fixtures, scoring five goals in two wins against the USA and Tunisia.
Kevin De Bruyne’s creativity will be key to their chances in the tournament, while Romelu Lukaku will be a standout star in the final third after scoring five goals in his last six internationals.

Egypt are currently favored to finish second in the Group G standings. Hossam Hassan’s team showed their quality at AFCON earlier this year, reaching the semi-finals.
They also eased through a challenging qualifying campaign after winning eight of their ten matches. However, Egypt have never won a match at the World Cup in six previous attempts, and they have crashed out in the group stage in both the 1990 and 2018 tournaments.
Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush will be their main stars in the offensive areas, with the former scoring eight in his last 13 appearances for Egypt.
I could see Egypt struggling at the World Cup, meaning that this is a perfect opening night assignment in Group G for Belgium. I like the chances of the Red Devils winning by at least a two-goal margin.
