Very few people would have given Austin FC much of a chance in the Leagues Cup, but a run of two wins in three and a MD3 shootout success saw them progress through to the knockout stage in excellent style.

FC Dallas looked to be in a strong position in the Leagues Cup following back-to-back wins without conceding against Guadalajara and Queretaro. However, their goal of reaching the next round ultimately came up short following a MD3 loss against Toluca.

The focus turns back to securing a playoff spot in the Western Conference this weekend, but it is notable that they have failed to win in three MLS matches since the World Cup. Offensively, they have been below the standard required, having failed to score in their last two against San Diego FC and the LA Galaxy.

But, playing on the road has suited Dallas and their counterattacking style in 2026, as they have avoided defeat in six of their nine away from home, winning three of their previous six.
