It has been an underwhelming start to the campaign for the Maple Leafs, as they sit bottom of the Atlantic Division standings, having gone 11-11-3.
Meanwhile, the Panthers have underperformed, and a response will be expected this week following losses in each of their last two games.

The Florida Panthers will need to improve quickly if they are to win the Stanley Cup for a third straight season.
They come into this round of games sitting second bottom in the Atlantic Division, having gone 12-11-1 so far this season.
Offensively, they have stuttered throughout the campaign, scoring an Atlantic Division-low of 75 goals. Meanwhile, they have suffered defeats in each of their last two games in the NHL.

It is easy to argue that the Toronto Maple Leafs have made a backward step in their progression this term.
At present, they sit bottom of the Atlantic Division standings, having accumulated an overall record of 11-11-3. Toronto have won just three of their last ten in the NHL, losing on five occasions in regulation time across the same period.
However, confidence would have been gained following their performance last time out, beating the Pittsburgh Penguins 7-2.
