The game was close in the first half, as Detroit trailed the Chiefs 13-10 at the end of the first 30 minutes. But the team boasting the league's top offense produced only seven points after the break and was defeated by a 30-17 margin.

Jared Goff finished 23 of 29 for 203 yards, along with two touchdowns. Jahmyr Gibbs ran for 65 on 17 rushing attempts, and Jameson Williams caught six passes totaling 66 yards.
Although the 49ers were missing several key players, the Buccaneers led by a slim 20-19 lead in the third quarter. Tampa Bay pulled away, though, courtesy of Baker Mayfield's 45-yard TD pass to Tez Johnson.
With a chance to tie the score, Mac Jones threw an interception from Tampa Bay's 33-yard line. The miscue resulted in the Buccaneers tacking on another field goal, providing the final margin of this contest.

Mayfield completed 17 of 23 passes for 256 yards with two touchdowns. Kameron Johnson had four catches for 64 yards, and Rachaad White added 65 rushing yards.
