Arizona May Be Heading for Another Reboot

With Kyler Murray still out with a foot sprain and head coach Jonathan Gannon having posted a 15-30 record so far in his head coaching career, the likelihood is that there will be a new QB/coach combo in Arizona next season.

Earlier in the season, at least the Cardinals were competitive. Lately, that has not been the case. Following an upset win over the Cowboys in Week 9, they were blown out by division rivals the Seahawks and 49ers in consecutive weeks. Then they lost 27-24 to the Jaguars in overtime.

Backup QB Jacoby Brissett has played well in place of Murray with a 97.0 passer rating, 11 TDs, and 3 picks. Brissett is mature and a far better leader than Murray. Of course, he's not the long-term answer either.

Their running game has been poor after losing feature back James Conner three games into the season.

Arizona is middle-of-the-pack in most team-oriented statistics. They are still failing to properly deploy Marvin Harrison Jr. Despite that, they should be competitive against the injury-riddled Bucs.

Mayfield Expected to Play Despite Left Shoulder Injury

The Buccaneers are spiraling and have myriad injuries. The latest is to QB Baker Mayfield, who has a low-grade AC joint sprain in his left shoulder. It forced him from the game in the Bucs' Week 12 loss to the Rams.

They are also without star wide receiver Mike Evans.

Despite their struggles on and off the field, they are still in first place in the NFC South, one-half game in front of their closest pursuers, the Panthers. They play Carolina twice in the season's final three weeks. Those games will likely decide the division title.

The Rams went up and down the field at will, building a 21-0 lead on their way to a 34-7 blowout. Before leaving the game with his shoulder injury, Mayfield was 9 of 19 for 41 yards, 1 TD, and 2 interceptions. Teddy Bridgewater was awful in relief in an admittedly hopeless cause.

LA took advantage of the Bucs' weak pass defense. They are 25th in the NFL in points per game allowed. They are fifth in takeaway differential.

Running back Bucky Irving is set to return against Arizona.

Cardinals vs Buccaneers NFL Pick

In Week 13, Cardinals-Buccaneers, Tampa has an opportunity to get back on the winning track against reeling Arizona. Still, they are either compromised by injury or missing key components. Brissett is a professional who can take advantage of defensive lapses. Mayfield's shoulder is a problem.

So which will be more important? Will it be the Bucs' desperation or the Cardinals' disarray?

Underdog Arizona will keep the game within 3.5 points on the road.
