Reid Detmers is 3-6 with a 4.21 ERA. His FIP of 3.12 says the ERA is overstating the problem. He has been pitching better than the results show, and on his best day he is one of the sharper starters in the AL. His last-three FIP of 4.47 shows real cooling from that underlying quality over his most recent outings. The best version of Detmers is not what Los Angeles is sending out right now, and the Angels at 2-8 over their last ten are not a team carrying momentum into Arlington.
Los Angeles at .703 OPS loses the lineup matchup to Texas. Their bullpen FIP of 4.58 with a 25.4% strikeout rate is passable. The Angels are running out of arguments on the road in a building where the Rangers are 7-3 in their last ten home games.
Nathan Eovaldi is 9-7 with a 4.02 ERA. His FIP of 4.26 says the season has been roughly what it looks like a reliable arm without a big gap between results and process. His last-three FIP of 2.09 is where the pick lives. He has been pitching the best baseball of his 2026 season over his last three outings, and he is going against an Angels team that has lost eight of its last ten while Detmers cools off.
Texas at .714 OPS holds the lineup edge. Their bullpen FIP of 4.88 with a 19.7% strikeout rate is the weaker backend, which is the one honest counterargument for the home side. Eovaldi going deep keeps that bullpen out of difficult spots. His recent form suggests he will.
Texas has won seven of its last ten. Los Angeles has won two. Eovaldi is pitching the best baseball of his season and the Angels are sending a cooling Detmers into a building where they have been losing all month. The case for Texas is straightforward and -142 is a fair price for it.
