Event Preview

The action on the PGA Tour continues this weekend, as the Rocket Classic is staged at the Detroit Golf Club. A total distance of 7,370 yards will be covered by the field at the par-72 course, with a purse of $10 million being up for grabs in Michigan.

Cameron Young will be a red-hot contender based on the odds this weekend. The American snapped a poor run of results to take a solo second at The Open Championship, but a costly third round was ultimately detrimental to his chances of winning a maiden major title.

Wyndham Clark has been largely consistent throughout the season, and a line could be put through his recent effort at The Open. Before that cut, Clark had made the cut in all six starts, and had won two events. Chris Gotterup should also be respected, having finished in the top 20 on back-to-back starts at the Scottish Open and Open Championship.

Si Woo Kim could be the form player in this field after achieving T9 and T6 finishes at the Scottish Open and Open Championship. So far this season, he has finished in the top ten on ten occasions. Jake Knapp should also be capable of getting involved after returning from injury with a reliable T13 at the 3M Open.

Previous champion Rickie Fowler could be an interesting chance this weekend. Fowler won the Rocket Classic back in 2023, and he has looked back on song in recent weeks with T15 and T18 finishes on his previous two appearances.
