Event Preview
While the majority of the focus on the golf calendar will be on The Open Championship this weekend, there will also be PGA Tour action staged in the form of the Puntacana Championship. This event has been staged since 2016, with the field competing over 7,670 yards at Corales Golf Course.
Taylor Pendrith will be a red-hot favorite after an excellent showing at the recent ISCO Championship. The Canadian finished second following a playoff, maintaining his reliable form this season, which has also seen him make the cut in 14 of his 20 appearances.
Mackenzie Hughes will also have a leading chance this weekend after claiming three previous finishes in the top 25 this season. The Canadian was last in action, claiming a T10 finish at the ISCO Championship.
Benjamin James and Jacob Olesen should have the ability to get competitive at the Puntacana Championship this weekend. Meanwhile, Seamus Power brings some reliable recent form to the table after finishing T19 at The CJ Cup in late May.
Puntacana Championship Picks
At a price, Kevin Yu could be an interesting angle this weekend. He has finished in the top 25 on two occasions in 2026, and positives can be drawn from his recent performances, which includes a T15 finish at the John Deere Classic and a T29 at the Canadian Open.
