Event Preview

The most recent major added to the LPGA Tour calendar is set for this weekend, as the world’s best female stars will be in action at Evian Resort Golf Club in France. A total yardage of 6,479 will be covered at the Evian Championship, with a purse of $9.1 million up for grabs.

World number one Nelly Korda will be a red-hot favorite after maintaining her excellent record on the Tour with an excellent T8 at the recent Women’s PGA Championship. The American has been back to her very best this year, winning four times on the Tour, including wins in majors such as the Chevron Championship and U.S. Women’s Open.

Mexican player Gaby Lopez could be one of the main dangers this week. The 32-year-old was an excellent second at the U.S. Women’s Open earlier this year, and was T12 at the recent Women’s PGA Championship. Bodes well for her chances that she has finished in the top ten on two of her last three starts at the Evian Championship.

Jeeno Thitkul also finished in the top ten at the most recent major. The 23-year-old is already a 22-time winner as a professional, and was an excellent second at the Evian Championship 12 months ago. Haeran Ryu is one of the brightest young stars on the Tour, and the four-time winner on the LPGA Tour should be primed to improve on her fifth-place finish in this major from 2024.

Evian Championship Picks

At a bigger price, Charley Hull should be capable of bouncing back after failing to make the cut at the Women’s PGA Championship. The 30-year-old won the Saudi Ladies International earlier this season, and was a career-best T3 at the Evian Championship in 2022. Has twice finished in the top ten at majors this season.
