The final major of the 2026 golf season is set for the illustrious Royal Birkdale this weekend. It will be the first time that the major has been staged at the Merseyside course since 2017, and a competitive weekend of action is expected. Collin Morikawa (+310)

Collin Morikawa is a player that many expect to have a promising weekend at Royal Birkdale. The American comes into the major in excellent recent form, finishing a solo third at the recent Travelers Championship.

The 29-year-old has claimed six top-ten finishes in 13 starts this season, and also has the added advantage of being a former Open champion, landing success back in 2021. His major record is also strong, finishing in the top ten in ten of his 27 starts.

Joaquin Niemann (+500)

There have been few more consistent golfers in the world in recent years than Joaquin Niemann. He has been a regular winner on the LIV calendar since joining the tour in 2024, recording eight victories.

That includes a win in Korea already this season. He has extended that form onto the DP World Tour in recent months, finishing a respectable T7 at the BMW International Open in early July.

When Cameron Smith won The Open in 2022, there was an expectation that the Aussie would feature prominently at the majors.

However, his form has dipped sharply since joining the LIV Tour, failing to make the cut in six of the last seven top evens. However, a return to a links course should suit this weekend, having made the cut in three of his five starts at The Open.
