Event Preview

The Hungarian Grand Prix forms the eleventh round on the F1 schedule for 2026, with the drivers set to complete a race distance of 306.630 km at the Hungaroring. This race was first completed in 1936, and Lewis Hamilton holds the record for most race wins with eight.

All eyes will be on Kimi Antonelli this weekend, as the Italian bids to extend his 45-point advantage at the top of the Drivers’ Championship. Antonelli won a sixth race of the campaign last Sunday in Belgium, with his teammate and championship rival, George Russell, enduring a frustrating Sunday after retiring for the second time in six races.

Ferrari look like the main danger to Mercedes in the Constructors’ Championship, with Charles Leclerc following up his win in the British Grand Prix with a second in Belgium. Lewis Hamilton was slightly unfortunate to be handed a penalty, but he still came home to take an impressive fourth.

McLaren will still have questions to answer, as both Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris lacked the race pace to compete for the win. Piastri was the best-finishing McLaren after taking fifth. Max Verstappen was consistent throughout the weekend, finishing on the podium for the second race in three rounds.

Isack Hadjar has settled into life at Red Bull impressively, and his sixth-place finish last weekend means that he has now finished in the points in the last six rounds. Arvid Linblad has been the standout rookie in 2026, having achieved top-ten finishes in the last five races.

Hungarian Grand Prix Picks

This will once again be a straight fight between the Mercedes and Ferrari drivers. However, the confidence with which Antonelli is driving ensures that he will be very challenging to overlook when making Hungarian Grand Prix picks.
