Event Preview

The finishing line will be in sight for Formula 1 in 2026 when the action on track resumes following the summer break in the Netherlands on August 23. The Dutch Grand Prix will see drivers complete a total distance of 306.587 km, with a total of 72 laps being completed by the field.

Kimi Antonelli comes into the second half of the season with a 50-point advantage at the top of the standings following a damage-limiting third in the Hungarian Grand Prix. The teenager has won an impressive six races on the schedule in 2026.

Lewis Hamilton is the closest challenger, but the seven-time world champion was left ruing team orders, suffering a grid penalty after qualifying second and then pitting in the closing stages, eventually finishing fifth. George Russell lost more ground on his teammate after finishing seventh following an anti-stall issue off the start line.

There was a welcome return to form for McLaren in Hungary, as Lando Norris won a race for the first time this season. However, there was frustration for Oscar Piastri, who collided with Carlos Sainz when lapping the Williams when he was leading the race.

Max Verstappen will be the hometown hero in the Netherlands, and confidence can be gained after successive podium finishes in Belgium and Hungary. Teammate Isack Hadjar has his form in the second Red Bull, finishing no worse than sixth in the last seven races.

Dutch Grand Prix Picks

Five different drivers have won the last five races on the F1 schedule. Therefore, an unpredictable race should be expected in the Netherlands. Therefore, a chance could be taken on George Russell to bounce back to form after the summer break to end a poor run of results.
