Before Betting on White Sox vs Giants July 1
New month, new hopes for both the Chicago White Sox and the San Francisco Giants as they kick off their weekend series at Oracle Park. The South Siders were just 12-15 in June which has dropped them to third place in the AL Central. The Giants are in a similar spot, going 13-13 last month which has put them into third in the NL West.
Chicago hasn’t had a great trip to the West Coast, dropping two of three to the slumping Angels last series. That includes a 4-1 loss on Wednesday when they struck out 11 times in 5.2 innings against Shohei Ohtani. The Giants have been at home the past five games, but have managed to go just 2-3 in what were supposed to be winnable games against the Reds and Tigers.
San Francisco is -158 in the offshore odds for the White Sox vs Giants June 1 matchup. SF will send Alex Cobb (3-3, 5.48 ERA) to the mound as he looks to continue his bounce back. Cobb allowed 13 ER and 20 hits in two starts against the Mets and Rockies, but has given up just 2 ER apiece to the Reds and Pirates in his last two.
Chicago goes with Lance Lynn (1-1, 6.19 ERA) making his fourth start of the year after beginning the season on the IL. Lynn has allowed a HR and at least 3ER in each of his three previous outings, including surrendering 5ER over 6.2 IP to the Orioles in his last trip to the mound. He’s clearly not yet in midseason form.

Neither team is playing especially well right now, but they both have offensive potential and this matchup features two pitchers who have had their share of struggles as of late. Playing the ‘over’ looks like the way to approach this game, as the Giants don’t have much value at that price after going 2-3 at home the last two series’ against Cincinnati and Detroit. Chicago also just dropped two of three to Anaheim, who was 10-18 in June.
