  • The Spanish team needs to win to secure its advance to the next stage.

These teams are the elite of continental soccer, and each time they meet, the hype is fantastic. There won’t be much different this time, even though the gap in quality between these units is colossal.

Everyone awaits to see Robert Lewandowski’s revenge for not getting the Ballon d’Or trophy instead of Messi. Packing two or three goals to his former club would be the best possible message to the Argentinian.

Bayern Wants Another Big Win

The Bavarians surely know how to handle Barcelona, as they scored 11 goals against the Spanish powerhouse in the past two meetings. It seems that they have something personal against Blaugrana, and even if they didn’t, since the Ballon d’Or ceremony, that is no longer the case.

Bayern’s star, Robert Lewandowski, didn’t receive the award because Lionell Messi reached his seventh Golden Ball. Completely undeservedly, may we add. Thus, Barcelona now has to pay for that.

Bayern has three straight wins at the moment, the last one this Saturday in Dortmund, against their biggest rivals, Borussia, 2-3. When looking only at the home games, the Bavarians won four straight, scoring 12 times and allowing thee. Four of those events were with over 2.5 goals.

Xavi’s Poor Start

The former captain of the Catalonian club didn’t start as planned, and even though he only lost one game so far, the performances Barcelona displayed were terrible. Blaugrana barely escaped a defeat at home to Benfica solely because of an unreal miss in the last seconds of the game.

After that, Los Culos suffered one more slap in the face at home, to Betis, who went back to Seville with a minimal victory, 0-1. We’ve noticed that Xavi’s Barca won’t be as efficient as before and that he prefers to play slower than his generation did.

But that can be understood because Barcelona doesn’t have the talent as in the past. It might be harsh to say that, but it is the truth.

Head to Head Games

The game in Barcelona saw Bayern winning 0-3. It was one-sided domination of the Bavarians, with Lewandowski scoring twice. To be perfectly straight with you, we expect the Pole to be at the same level in this event as well.

Prediction

Bayern is much better than Barca, which was obvious three months ago. But not only that, the motive of the players is massive, and all of them want to help Lewandowski score as many goals as possible against Messi’s (former) club. Our pick here is Bayern to win, and to win while covering a -1.5 spread. The hosts are far too powerful for Barca at the moment.

Pick: Bayern -1.5 +150
