Two Western Conference teams will get together on Wednesday night in the National Basketball Association. The Minnesota Timberwolves take their 4-3 record on the road to take on the 3-4 New Orleans Pelicans.

The new looked Timberwolves for the 2017 – 2018 season have won two straight games, including a Monday Night win in overtime over the Miami Heat. The Timberwolves are 2-2 on the road this season, and are 3-0 against teams from the Western Conference.

Pelicans Led By Davis and Boogie

The New Orleans Pelicans started slow, but have moved to 3-4 on the season. The most recent loss to the Magic snapped their two game winning streak. The Pelicans are in fourth place in the Southwest Division, where they compete against the Grizzlies, Rockets, Spurs and Mavericks.

The Pelicans are playing their third straight home game, as they scored 123 against the Cavaliers, and then settled in with just 99 in their most recent game against the Magic. The Pelicans are looking to top their 30 and 34 win seasons the past two years.

Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins are certainly the top big man combination in the National Basketball Association. Despite that though, the Pelicans are still just 8th in the league in rebounds. They are averaging more than 46 rebounds per game.

The top scorer for the Pelicans this season thus far has been DeMarcus Cousins, who is just shy of 30 points per game. Davis is making nearly 55% of his shots taken. New Orleans has been an unselfish basketball team, as they are 4th in the league with 24.1 assists per game.

The Minnesota Timberwolves, led by head coach Tom Thibodeau added three new starters to their lineup. Andrew Wiggins and Karl Anthony Towns returned, but saw Jeff Teague, Jimmy Butler and Taj Gibson slide in. Jamal Crawford is one of the best 6 men in the league off the bench for Minnesota as well. Teague has come to Minnesota and is leading the team in assists with  7.6 per game.

Karl Anthony Towns leads the team in scoring and rebounding, as he is scoring 24 and ripping down just shy of 12 per game.
