For the second week running, it is race week in Formula 1, as the action moves to Catalonia for the Spanish Grand Prix this weekend. Red Bull’s dominance continued in Monaco, as the constructor continued their winning sequence, but will any teams close the gap in Barcelona this weekend?

Before Betting On Spanish Grand Prix

The Spanish Grand Prix will be staged at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya this weekend, as all teams will be looking to close the gap on the dominant Red Bull. The constructor has won all six races at the start of the 2023 season, with Max Verstappen extending his championship lead with a dominant win at the Monaco Grand Prix last weekend. His lead at the top of the standings was extended after Sergio Perez failed to finish in the first ten.

Verstappen has now won four of the opening six races this season, and there is a growing feeling that the title is becoming a procession already. Fernando Alonso has been one of the stories of the season already, as the Aston Martin driver sits third in the standings after finishing on the podium in all but one of the races so far this season. Last weekend’s race in Monaco could have ended differently if it had not been for Aston Martin’s decision to put dry tires on Alonso’s car when the rain began to pour.

Esteban Ocon was in excellent form on the streets of Monaco, as he landed a historic third-place finish for Alpine. However, the traditional circuit this weekend could see Alpine fall back down the grid this weekend, with Ferrari and Mercedes set to return with renewed challenges.

Mercedes brought new upgrades to Monaco, and there were clear signs of improvement throughout practice. Lewis Hamilton drove excellently to finish fourth, while George Russell took fifth. This weekend will show us more about how competitive Mercedes can be with these new upgrades.

This weekend should be another interesting round of F1 action, but there is little doubt that Red Bull looks primed to extend their advantage at the top of the standings. We fully expect Verstappen to claim a fifth victory of the season, but we could see both Mercedes drivers also finishing on the podium in Barcelona.
