  • The first leg ended 1-3 for Real.

We’ve seen lots of unreal comebacks in the UEFA Champions League. If Chelsea manages to eliminate Real on Tuesday night, that would be one of the top five in the history of European football. The Blues come to Spain with a 1-3 deficit and not-so-bright prospects for advancing to the next round.

Meanwhile, Real is looking good lately, with the veteran Karim Benzema leading the way.

Los Blancos Completing Their Revenge

Real was a hefty favorite against the Blues in last year’s semis, and everyone expected them to enter the finals. But Tuchel and his ultra-defensive approach managed to bring down Los Blancos, and eventually win the title.

This season, the situation is different, and the Spanish side looks much stronger. We’ve seen Ancelotti’s crew rolling over the Blues in the opening game, and at the moment, they are on a wonderful streak at home that saw them losing back in late September.

Real has eight wins in the last nine games, and in only one of them, they didn’t score at least two goals. It is mostly because of the fantastic Karim Benzema who has been producing miracles. Just remember how he annihilated PSG in the second half of the rematch with three goals. He would then do the same in London.

Chelsea’s Wild Shot

There is no need to explain Chelsea’s situation. All the odds are against the Blues, and they can advance to the semis only if something miraculous happens.

Following two tough defeats at home, Chelsea managed to bounce back a bit, humiliating Southampton on the road, 0-6. To be honest, the Blues could net at least three more goals, and they were all over the place at St. Mary’s.

Tuchel’s team plays much better on the road than at home, and they have eight consecutive victories outside Stamford, noting that they’ve scored at least twice in the past six. Also, they have five clean sheets.

Head to Head

Benzema scored three goals in London, to push Real to a 3-1 win. On the other side, young Havertz scored the only goal for the hosts.

The previous meeting in Madrid took place last year, and that meeting ended 1-1. Chelsea got a very good result before the rematch in England, where they beat Real 2-0. As mentioned before, this outcome was quite a shocker.

Real Madrid vs Chelsea Prediction and Pick

Carlo Ancelotti perfectly knows how to behave in situations like these. Like all the Italian managers, his knowledge of defensive tactics and little tricks that waste time is vast. That is why we bet on moderate efficiency, meaning two or three goals. Our guts tell us to go with Real’s victory, but in order to eliminate unnecessary risk, we are choosing 2 or 3 hits.

Pick: Moderate efficiency 2 or 3 goals
