Mauri Icardi permanently became PSG’s player after a deal the French champions and Inter Milan made yesterday.

Icardi Staying in Paris

The Saints’ management was pretty pleased with the way the Argentinian striker who was on loan from Inter, played since arriving at Parc des Princes. The two teams have made an agreement once starting the loan with a clause that the player could be bough out until May 31st.

It is the main reason why they decided to get on with the deal even though the summer transfer window hasn’t started yet. COVID-19 may stop the competitions, and made a mess regarding the entire sports world, but the legal documents kept its value.

The French champions paid €57 million to the three-time European champions, of which €50 million is immediate and €7 million through add-ons.

Icardi was, without a doubt, one of the best players in PSG. He would score 20 goals in 31 games across all competitions, even though he isn’t the focal point of the team like Kylian Mbappe or Neymar. Nevertheless, the Argentinian used every chance he had, and contributed a lot in PSG’s seventh title run over the past eight years.

Even though the French Ligue One ended, there is still more to come for Icardi, as his team has to finish the Champions League, Coupe de France, and Coupe de la Ligue. So, there would be plenty of chances for him to improve the numbers.

Turbulent Stint in Inter

Although he played superbly and was arguably one of the best strikers in the world during his stay in Milan, Icardi was filling the media headlines mostly in a negative way.

His relationship with Wanda Nara was the cause of everything, according to the fans and the insiders from Inter. Icardi and Nara’s ex-husband Maxi Lopez were friends before them two started an affair which resulted in a marriage just six months following Nara’s and Lopez’s divorce.

Bad reputation was following the younger Argentinian who wasn’t very popular among the fans because of that, and couldn’t handle the pressure. But that wasn’t all.

Nara was Icardi’s agent and her attitude and comments were something which frequently caused troubles not just to the player but Inter as well. She would create problems in talks between the club and the player, with unrealistic demands.

At on point, it seemed that she wanted to show that the player is bigger than the club, and that Nerazzurri were the ones who need to be grateful for having Icardi in the team.

What especially made the fans furious are his negotiations with the biggest rivals, Juventus, and that was the last straw for the management too. After that, Icardi was left on the bench for some time, and it was decided that it is best for the club to ship him somewhere outside the country.

PSG waited for that opportunity, and they see the 27-year old as the perfect replacement for Edinson Cavani who will leave the club.
