Chelsea vs Arsenal Preview

Blues On Excellent Run

Thomas Tuchel could easily be in the running for manager of the season this term, as he stands on the cusp of winning an unlikely double with Chelsea this season. Their place in the Champions League positions already looks assured, but the German will be hopeful that his side can end the campaign with two pieces of silverware. Chelsea come up against Leicester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday afternoon, while a Champions League finalshowdown with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City lies in wait at the end of the season.

Chelsea’s recent league form has also been strong, as they have won four of their past five, and have dropped just two points during that space of time. Chelsea got the upperhand over City at the weekend, as the two sides met at the Etihad in the league. Marcos Alonso’s goal separated the sides, as the Spaniard scored in second half injury time to ensure Chelsea left Manchester with the three points.

Gunners Looking For Third Straight Win

The 2020-21 season will go down as one of the most disappointing from an Arsenal perspective, as the Gunners haven’t been able to get near the European spots. Mikel Arteta would only be too aware of the size of the job on his hands, as the club enter one of the most important summer transfer windows in recent seasons. The Gunners could yet steal a Europa League spot this term, as they are five points off Liverpool and four off Tottenham Hotspur.

However, in truth, their performances this season haven’t merited a finish in the top seven. The Gunners could yet drop into the bottom half of the table, as Leeds are two points below them, and Aston Villa are a further two points back. Arsenal at least come into this fixture with some momentum, as they have won their last two.

Recent Meetings Between Sides

Arsenal have managed to get wins against Chelsea in each of the last two fixtures against the Blues. The most recent of those wins came in the league meeting between the rivals at the Emirates on Boxing Day. Chelsea’s last win came last season, as they beat Arsenal 2-1 at the Emirates.

Chelsea vs Arsenal Pick & Prediction

Arsenal’s recent form has been slightly better. However, they will be coming up against one of the most in-form sides in the league at present, and Chelsea will be our pick to continue to build momentum ahead of the two cup finals that they have upcoming over the next couple of weeks.
