Before Betting on Padres vs Mariners Sept 13

The offshore odds are calling Tuesday’s Padres vs Mariners matchup a close one with both teams priced fairly similarly. Each squad had Monday off, Seattle after a solid series in which they took two of three from Atlanta while San Diego lost their series against the Dodgers dropping them to 4-12 this season vs. L.A.

This interleague matchup looks like a meeting of two postseason bound teams. Seattle has the lead in the A.L. wild card race with Baltimore 5.5 out of the final spot while the Padres have a two game lead over the Brewers for the third spot in the N.L.

Yu Darvish (13-7, 3.31 ERA) goes for San Diego on Tuesday night looking for his third straight win. He’s 6-5 with a 4.09 ERA on the road this season compared to 7-2, 2.45 at home. The Padres as a team are 7-3 in their last 10 on the road though.

Seattle counters with Logan Gilbert (12-5, 3.23 ERA) looking for his third straight scoreless start. The right-hander struck out 9 batters against both Detroit and the White Sox in his first two September outings but may not get a ton of run support as his offense has hit just .156 as a team vs. Darvish.

Gilbert has been great so far in September and Darvish can be dominant on any given night. The side is hard to call as the offshore odds indicate, making the ‘under’ look like the best play here.
