Before Betting on Padres vs Dodgers Aug 7

Bringing in offensive reinforcements Juan Soto, Josh Bell, and Brandon Drury at the trade deadline started off well for the San Diego Padres, as they erupted for a 9-1 win over the Rockies last Wednesday as the players debuted. Since then though the Padres are 1-3, and are in danger of getting swept by the division rival Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday night.

L.A. has looked like the new and improved offense this weekend, getting an 8-1 win on Friday and following that up with an 8-3 victory on Saturday. The Dodgers have run their winning streak to 7 games, their lead over San Diego in the NL West to 14.5 games, and have scored at least 7 runs in 5 of their last 7.

Tyler Anderson (12-1, 2.89 ERA) looks for a bounce back start in the Padres vs Dodgers Aug 7 matchup. Anderson was roughed up a bit last time out, giving up 5 ER over 5.0 IP to the Giants but he was bailed out by his offense in a 9-5 Los Angeles win. Anderson allowed just 4 total ER in five starts during the month of July.

Yu Darvish (10-4, 3.30 ERA) tries to help San Diego salvage one win this weekend. He struck out 10 but gave up 5 ER over 6.0 IP against the Dodgers on July 2nd in L.A., and threw 6.0 IP of 1-hit ball at Petco Park on April 23rd in his two meetings against Los Angeles in 2022.

The Dodgers have won 13 of Anderson’s last 14 starts so they look like they have the value on Sunday, especially at Pinnacle. Los Angeles seems to be taking this series personally, outscoring San Diego 16-4 so far this weekend even after everybody was praising the Padres’ trade deadline moves.
