The Boston Celtics will be looking to continue their winning run in the NBA this week, as they come up against the San Antonio Spurs.

Celtics Hoping To Put Pressure On Sixers

The top of the Eastern Conference is looking much tighter this season than it has in previous seasons. There looks to be five teams in a fight for the top seed in the East, with the Philadelphia 76ers currently holding all the cards to achieve that. The Celtics have the next best record in the east, and they have been in in-form side over the last ten games.

During that time, they have won seven and lost on three occasions. Milwaukee Bucks are the only franchise that can match that record. The Celtics won their last game in the NBA, as they managed to see off the Chicago Bulls, and they will be looking for a third win on the bounce against the Spurs. Boston beat Chicago 119-103, with Jaylen Brown scoring the most points in that win. Brown scored 26, while Jayson Tatum had 24. Daniel Theis had 19 in the win, while Tristan Thompson recorded ten rebounds.

Celtics Looking For Playoff Spot

A place in the playoffs will the aim for the Spurs this season. It looks incredibly unlikely that they will pose much of a threat in the post-season, as they lack the star player that can deliver huge points tallies when the pressure is really on. They will be quietly confident that they could achieve a finish in the playoff spots this season, as they currently sit in ninth. San Antonio have won four of their last ten games, and also recorded a win in their last game in the NBA against the Washington Wizards.

That was a blowout win for the Spurs, as they claimed the 121-101 victory. Patty Mills scored the biggest number of points in that win, as he finished with 21. Meanwhile, Lonnie Walker, Devin Vassell and Rudy Gay also finished with more than ten points. Dejounte Murray scored a triple-double in that success, as he scored eleven points, ten assists and eleven rebounds. Spurs were in a strong position throughout that game, but really pulled away in the final period as they outscored the Wizards 36-24.

Recent Meetings Between Sides

San Antonio have enjoyed success in this fixture over the last couple of seasons in the NBA. They have won four of the last five games that have been played between these franchises. The only Celtics win came in San Antonio last season, as they won 135-115. Spurs have beaten the Celtics 55 times in the 95 occasions that they have met.

Celtics @ Spurs Pick

The Celtics have already shown this season that they look to be in a decent position to challenge until the death in the Eastern Conference. They have struggled against the Spurs over recent seasons, but they will claim a rare win against their opponents this week.
