Before Betting on Nationals vs Dodgers July 25

One of the best teams in MLB takes on the worst when the Los Angeles Dodgers (64-30) host the Washington Nationals (32-65) for a three game series starting Monday night. It’s no surprise that the offshore odds heavily favor the Dodgers in the opener and likely the two games to follow on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Washington does come into the Nationals vs Dodgers July 25 matchup with some momentum after a 4-3 win in Arizona on Sunday. The Nationals went into the All-Star break as losers of 8 of 9 games, but they did beat the Braves on July 17th as +245 underdogs so can’t be completely written off for Monday’s contest in L.A.

The Dodgers have an 8-game win streak going after taking four games from the rival Giants to kick off the second half of their season. Dominating that series and building up an 11.5 game lead in the NL West could leave L.A. a bit vulnerable for a letdown game though.

Tony Gonsolin (11-0, 1.62) being on the hill greatly reduces L.A.’s chance of getting upset on Monday night. The Dodgers have won his last 9 starts and he’s gotten the W in 7 of those. Gonsolin did struggle with 5 ER allowed against the Cardinals last time out, but he was saved by his offense in a 7-6 Dodgers win.

Paolo Espino (0-3, 3.57 ERA) will try to control a red hot Dodgers offense on Monday night. The Nationals are 1-6 since Espino transitioned from a reliever to a starter on June 12th.

It doesn’t take a sports savant to see that L.A. holds a pretty strong advantage in this game. The Dodgers have won 15 of their last 16 but these are also the types of games that the oddsmakers can steal from a person – the ones that look too easy. A small play on the Nationals would be the way to go here especially with just 4% of the betting public taking that side.
