Two teams coming off wins meet up Thursday night at Jersey Mike’s Arena when the Michigan Wolverines (15-12) visit the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (17-10). The early lean has to go towards Rutgers because of their stellar 13-3 record at home but Michigan has been playing better down the stretch with wins in four of their last six contests. Is +5.5 points too many for the Wolverines to be getting?

Before Betting on Michigan vs Rutgers

Michigan has won four of their last six, and the two losses over that span came by 1 point against #17 Indiana and then a 64-59 loss to Wiscosnin in Madison. The Wolverines come into Thursday’s game off the heels of an 84-72 win over rival Michigan State over the weekend fueled by 18 points from Dug McDaniel and another 17 from Hunter Dickinson.

Both Michigan and Rutgers are 9-7 in Big Ten play. The Wolverines have won four of their last six while the Scarlet Knights have dropped three of their last four. You would automatically give Rutgers a lean in this spot based on their stellar 13-3 home record, but Steve Pikiell’s club also lost their last home game 82-72 against Nebraska on February 14th as -14 point favorites.

Michigan vs Rutgers Prediction & Pick

The -5.5 spread seems like just a couple points too many for Rutgers to be giving in this spot. Michigan has some nice momentum going and usually does get hot heading towards March while you just can’t trust the Scarlet Knights even at home after their recent loss to Nebraska.

Pick: Michigan +5.5
