The Cubs (21-26) are just 7-13 in May heading into the last week of the month, but they got the series with the Mets off to the right start with a 7-2 win in the opener at Wrigley Field on Tuesday. New York (25-24) had a five game win streak snapped with the loss, and are underdogs on Wednesday against their old teammate Marcus Stroman.

Before Betting on Mets vs Cubs

The highlight of Tuesday’s win for the Cubs was yet another long ball from Christopher Morel, who has gone deep in five straight games and in 9 of his 12 games this season since being called up from the minor leagues in early May. Baseball is definitely a team sport though, as Chicago is just 2-3 over the Morel HR streak.

Stroman (3-4, 3.05 ERA) is having a solid year for the Cubs, tied for 1st in MLB with 8 quality starts on the season. That hasn’t translated to a lot of success in the W/L column, but that’s more due to the Cubs scoring 3 runs or less in five of Stroman’s last six starts.

Kodai Senga (4-2, 3.77 ERA) will get his first look at Wrigley Field but the road has not been kind to the rookie who has a 6.30 ERA in four away starts compared to 1.57 in four outings at Citi Field.

Mets vs Cubs Prediction & Pick

The Cubs rarely win two in a row, but they’ll have a great opportunity to do just that on Wednesday night as Stroman has dazzled this season and Mets pitching has struggled on the road over the past month.
