It’s “Shohei Day” in Anaheim as Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani is up in the rotation against the Marlins. Miami was just 2-5 on their current road trip before claiming a 6-2 victory on Friday night as just slight 2.2 underdogs. When you face Ohtani, that underdog price take a bit of a bump and that’s what the offshore sportsbooks are indicating for Saturday night’s game two of the series.

Before Betting on Marlins vs Angels

Miami had an off day on Thursday after three games in San Francisco and a four game set in Colorado and they looked rejuvenated in belting out 16 hits in the 6-2 victory. It’s somewhat confusing that the Marlins aren’t finding more success lately as Jorge Soler has homered in five of his last six, Yuli Gurriel is 11 for his last 17, and Luis Arraez leads the NL with a .374 batting average.

The Angels had taken two of three from the 1st place Twins and swept Boston prior to Friday night’s disappointing loss that snapped a four game win streak. They are still 5-2 on their current home stand as they look to get back on track behind Ohtani (5-1, 3.05 ERA). The Angels of won 8 of his last 9 starts, but he’s been hittable in May posting a 4.68 ERA compared to 2.25 in April.

Edward Cabrera (3-4, 5.05 ERA) gets the ball for the Marlins coming off a decent 6.0 IP of 3ER ball considering he was pitching at Coors Field. Cabrera gives up about a standard 3ER per game lately, which may be too many against Ohtani.

Marlins vs Angels Prediction & Pick

This total is right where it needs to be in an Ohtani start but when you look at the numbers teams are scoring off the Angels starter lately – plus the Marlins offense is hitting the ball even though that may not be showing up in their W/L column. With Cabrera having his own issues on the mound for Miami, this looks like a play on the ‘over.’

Pick: Over 7.5
