The Premier League finally restarts on Boxing Day, but there are two entertaining fixtures in prospect on the 27th. Manchester United will resume their league game at Old Trafford on Tuesday, as they look to continue their charge towards the Champions League places. Nottingham Forest will be the visitors, as they search for a win that could lift them out of the bottom three.

Before Betting On Manchester United vs Nottingham Forest

This will be a first league meeting between Manchester United and Nottingham Forest since 1999. On that occasion, United won by a staggering 8-1 scoreline, but a repeat of that looks unlikely on Tuesday. The Red Devils do come into the fixture in good form, as they have lost just once in their previous five. They have also won three times during that period.

There was no rest for any of the United World Cup stars, as they returned to action at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening. However, the Red Devils looked sharp throughout that fixture, as they claimed a 2-0 win at the Theatre of Dreams. Christian Eriksen opened the scoring before the half hour mark, before Marcus Rashford scored a sublime second.

Nottingham Forest also qualified for the quarterfinals of the EFL Cup in the week, as they produced an excellent display at Ewood Park against an in-form Blackburn Rovers. Brennan Johnson put his World Cup disappointment behind him by scoring twice, while further efforts were netted by Jesse Lingard and Taiwo Awoniyi.

However, their main aim this season remains Premier League survival. Forest comes into this fixture sitting in the bottom three of the league standings, but they have suffered just one defeat in their previous five. They have also claimed two wins over that period, and victory at Old Trafford could see them move out of the bottom three in the league standings.
