There will be a huge day out at Wembley this weekend for both Manchester United and Newcastle United. The sides will clash in the final of the EFL Cup, with both teams chasing an illustrious honor to show how far they have come this term. But, which team will claim the bragging rights?

Before Betting On Man United vs Newcastle

Erik ten Hag has made no secret of his ambition to get Man United back to the top of world football. However, he could take a step toward achieving that goal this weekend by putting a first trophy in the cabinet. The Red Devils haven’t won a major piece of silverware since 2017, when they beat Ajax in the Europa League final. The same season also saw United win the EFL Cup.

United has been comfortable throughout their run to the final this term, as they have conceded just two goals in five matches. In the semi-final stage, they easily dispatched of Nottingham Forest, claiming a 5-0 aggregate win. However, United will likely have more pressure on them coming into the final as favorites.

You have to go back to 1955 for Newcastle United’s last piece of major silverware, but they have reached the final in domestic cup competitions on four occasions since then. In their previous final appearance, they were beaten by Manchester United in the 1999 FA Cup final. Eddie Howe will be aware of how important this game is to the whole city of Newcastle.

The Magpies have needed their fair share of luck to reach this stage, as they needed penalties in the third round against Crystal Palace, before edging past Southampton with a 3-1 aggregate win in the semi-final. However, a red card for Nick Pope against Liverpool means that Newcastle will be without their first-choice goalkeeper this weekend.

This will be a huge showdown for both sides, as they look to win the first piece of silverware on offer this term. However, we struggle to see past United, as they have been in sensational form since the World Cup, and a victory on Sunday could give them the momentum that they need to maintain their excellent run.
