Just eight teams are left standing in the EFL Cup, and the final four teams in the competition will be decided this week. The competition could offer Manchester United their best chance of winning a piece of silverware in Erik ten Hag’s first campaign in charge, and they will face League One side Charlton Athletic for a place in the semi-finals on Tuesday.

Before Betting On Man United vs Charlton

A busy period of fixtures for Manchester United continues on Tuesday, as they play in a third competition in just over a week. The Red Devils have been very impressive since returning to domestic action, as they have recorded five straight wins. The most recent of those was picked up in the third round of the FA Cup last Friday, as United ran out 3-1 winners against Everton.

Marcus Rashford’s incredible form since the World Cup continued, as he scored the third goal to take his tally since returning to United after the tournament in Qatar to five. Anthony also scored for United in that success, as they dominated proceedings from an early stage against the Toffees. United booked their spot in the last eight with a 2-0 home win against Burnley a few weeks ago.

Charlton has done excellently to reach this stage of the competition, and they will be looking for their first ever victory in the EFL Cup this season. They have already knocked out a number of teams above them in the football pyramid, which included a penalty shootout success against Brighton & Hove Albion in the previous round.

They also come into this fixture in solid form, as Dean Holden’s side has won each of their previous two games in League One. This is the first meeting between the sides since February 2007, where United claimed a 2-0 home win. The Red Devils have also won their previous ten against Charlton, with the latest win for the League One side coming in 1989.

This will be a decent test of United, who are likely to rest players with a huge Manchester derby coming up on Saturday. But, we still find it challenging to see any other result than a victory for the Red Devils.
