The round of 16 of the Europa League brings some attractive matches, and among them, the clash between the Italian powerhouse Inter Milan, and the Spanish team, Getafe. Inter’s had a disappointing season so far, but they can save it if they clinch the European trophy. Meanwhile, Getafe was one of the teams who lost a lot because of COVID-19 pandemics, as their game collapsed after the restart of the Spanish championship.

The game will take place in Germany, as this country received the honor of organizing the Europa League tournament following all the problems caused by Coronavirus.

Inter Saving Its Season

They way they started this campaign, many believed Inter would win the title in Italy. Finally. And really up until a certain point, they were the most dominant team in Serie A. Eventually, their fans suffered another frustration, as Nerrazzuri collapsed in the moments when they ought to play their best football.

Conte’s side started playing well in the moments once Juventus and Lazio went far ahead. Still, there were a lot of oscillations and a few draws, along with a defeat from Bologna, cost them a potential title fight in the end.

Inter didn’t lose for eight straight games, and during that row, they recorded six wins and two draws. In each but one game throughout this period, Conte’s crew netted twice, missing to achieve that only against Fiorentina.

Getafe’s Slump After the Restart

Since the resumption of football activities in Spain, Getafe played 11 La Liga games, winning just one, losing five, and having five draws. They were in the hunt for the Champions League spot prior to the entire crisis, having a very appealing playing style and posting big wins all the time.

However, all this fell apart later, with the team having problems in attack and being arguably the worst offense in the league over the last two months.

Five of the previous six games they played saw Getafe not scoring, and in just one of those events, they didn’t lose, which was against Alaves on the road, 0-0.

They now have a chance to improve that impression, erase all the bad memories and extend their stay on the international stage, as they won’t compete anywhere but in Spain during the next campaign. They were two points short of reaching the Europa League qualifiers in the end.

Prediction

For us, this is an easy one, because Getafe not only played terribly over the last 10 matches, but they also had their final game in La Liga on July 19. On the other hand, Inter is still in the full-speed mode as they finished their Serie A obligations this weekend.

On top of that all, Nerrazzuri are a much better group when looking at the big picture, and they are for sure after a trophy now. Conte will try to win EL, as there are no other competitions to worry about, so betting on Inter to triumph is our recommendation. The moneyline is at -120.
