#12 seed Florida State (9-22, 7-13) and #13 seed Georgia Tech (14-17, 6-14) open up ACC Tournament play on Tuesday afternoon at Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, NC. Despite being the lower seed, the Yellow Jackets are a slight favorite in this opening round game, but FSU won the only meeting between these two schools this season 75-64 on January 7th.

Before Betting on Georgia Tech vs Florida State

What Tuesday’s game really comes down to is momentum, as at one point Georgia Tech had lost 9 in a row but they’ve rallied to win three straight and five of their last six down the stretch. Compare that to the Seminoles, who have lost 9 of their last 11 to close out the season.

Maybe besides momentum, you look at potential in this game as the Seminoles did top #1 seed Miami 85-84 on the road February 25th. Then again Georgia Tech closed out the regular season with road wins over Syracuse (96-76) and Boston College (73-65) both as underdogs so this game could end up being a coin toss.

Florida State does have the better scoring depth here, with four players tallying in double figures during the regular season led by Matthew Cleveland’s 14.0 ppg. These to schools are still #11/#12 in scoring in the ACC, so the X-factor could be the Florida State defense that ranked last in the conference giving up 76.7 ppg.

Georgia Tech vs Florida State Prediction & Pick

Georgia Tech got smoked by FSU by double digits in January but that was in Tallahassee and while the Yellow Jackets were in a stretch of some pretty bad basketball. GT has shown some nice resilience going 5-1 to close out the year and they have the momentum.

Pick: Georgia Tech -2
