The Western Conference leading Nuggets (42-19) are in a tough spot on Sunday night coming off a 112-94 loss in Memphis on Saturday night and having to play the Clippers (33-29) on zero days rest. Los Angeles had Saturday off, but they needed a recovery day after a grueling 2OT 176-175 loss to the Kings on Friday night.

Before Betting on Clippers vs Nuggets

Even without overtime the Clippers scored over 150 points in regulation on Friday night, which makes you wonder if this is the team’s new pace after acquiring Russell Westbrook from the Lakers last week. Westbrook had 17 points and 14 assists in his LAC debut but there was plenty to go around as Kawhi Leonard had 44 points while Paul George added 34/10.

We will find out if Westbrook is a nice fit with the Clippers who brings out the best in Leonard and George – or if Friday’s game was just a bad defensive showing from Sacramento – when L.A. heads to Denver on Sunday. The Nuggets are playing on the back to back, but have also gone 16-5 ATS in their last 21 home games.

One thing being down 20 at the half Saturday night in Memphis did was allow the Nuggets to conserve some energy. Denver knew they were headed towards a loss so Nikola Jokic played just 26 minutes – and still had 15 points and 13 rebounds. Jokic has been relatively contained in his two matchups with the Clippers this year averaging just 15.5/9.5/7.5 but those two – plus another game Jokic missed – have all been Nuggets wins in the head to head series this season.

Clippers vs Nuggets Prediction & Pick

There’s value either way you go here as Westbrook, George, and Leonard seemed to mesh nicely on Friday (at least offensively) and they get a Nuggets team on the back to back. Then again, Denver got blown out by Memphis on Saturday so they didn’t fatigue themselves too bad plus the Nuggets are only giving -2.5 even with a 27-4 home record this season.

The Clippers giving up 153 points in regulation on Friday is the metric to look at here as you have to pay to see if that defense really is going to be that bad.
