One of the biggest women boxing fights of all-time is set for the first Saturday in September, as Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall clash for the WBO, WBA, WBC, IBF, WBF and The Ring middleweight titles at the O2 Arena in London.

Before Betting On Claressa Shields vs Savannah Marshall

The anticipation ahead of the showdown between Shields and Marshall is building, as the two have been on a collision course for over ten years. It only adds to the intrigue that Shields’s only defeat throughout her career came against Marshall before the 2012 Olympic Games when both stars were amateurs.

Since then, the two have sparred against each other, but a rematch has never been set. Marshall admitted that she believes that she has Shields’s number, and the win from ten years ago will be repeated when they meet with all the gold on the line. However, Shield bounced back from that, and revealed that she believed that her rival got lucky when they first met.

Shields has shown her full potential since that defeat, as she has won the gold medals at both the 2012 and 2016 Olympics. As well as that, she is also a three-weight world champion, and is the only professional boxer to have held the WBC, IBF, WBA and WBO titles in two different weight classes at the same time.

Marshall is also undefeated as a professional, as she has won all 12 previous fights. Ten victories have come by knockout, while she has held the WBO middleweight title since defeating Hannah Rankin by TKO back in October 2020.

The early odds for this bout are extremely interesting, as the bookmakers can’t decide which fighter should be favorite. Marshall’s previous win against Shields makes her a solid contender, and she looks much better suited to this division. She is currently best priced at -105 with BetOnline and SportsBetting.ag.
