Virtually every game in the Big 12 this season was a knockout, drag out battle and that included the two meetings between #22 TCU (21-11) and #7 Texas (24-8). Each team picked up a win on their home court, Texas 79-75 back on January 11th and the Horned Frogs 75-73 on March 1st. Do we have another close game in store on Friday night?

Before Betting on TCU vs Texas

Both teams had impressive wins in their Big 12 tournament openers on Thursday and for reasons other than just what was happening on the court. TCU starting center Eddie Lampkin, Jr. stepped away from the team this week citing racial discrimination and the Horned Frogs still beat #12 Kansas State rather handily 80-67.

Texas played without one of their starters as well with Timmy Allen (10.5/5.5) questionable with a leg injury and they still swarmed Oklahoma State to a 61-47 win. The Longhorns had the #1 scoring offense in the Big 12 this season, but their defense stole the show against OSU holding the Cowboys to 27% shooting from the field including 3-21 from beyond the arc.

Both teams fought through controversy and injury to win their tourney opener, but who perseveres better on Friday night? TCU was just 3-6 over their last 9 games of the regular season while the Longhorns closed out the year 5-4 with all of their losses coming on the road.

TCU vs Texas Prediction & Pick

There seems to be some good value on the Longhorns here at -2.5. Texas had the #18 adjusted offensive efficiency in the country in the regular season but their defense absolutely humiliated Oklahoma State on Thursday as well.

Pick: Texas -2.5
