The ACC Tournament Championship is on the line on Saturday night when #4 seed Duke (25-8) meets the #2 seed Virginia (25-6) in Greensboro. Both teams looked dialed in on Friday, with the Blue Devils eliminating the tourney’s top seed Miami 85-78 while the Cavaliers cruised to a 76-56 victory over #3 seed Clemson.

Both teams are peaking but it’s Duke that gets the -2.5 point favorite tag at the offshore sportsbooks.

Before Betting on Duke vs Virginia

You couldn’t have written up a better first year for Blue Devils coach Jon Scheyer, who had the unenviable task of replacing one of the greats in the game after Mike Krzyzewski’s retirement. Krzyzewski couldn’t capture the ACC Tournament in his final go around, but Scheyer can do just that with one more win.

Duke relied on a lot of young players this season, so it’s no surprise it took awhile for the team to mesh but it looks like they’re doing just that right now with eight straight wins. Kyle Filipowski, Mark Mitchell, Tyrese Proctor, and Dariq Whitehead have all averaged over a dozen points in the ACC tournament – and they are all freshman.

The big question for Saturday night’s championship game is if the suffocating Virginia defense can get these young Duke players to show their age a bit. UVA led the ACC and was 11th in the entire country giving up just 60.5 ppg but the Blue Devils have also averaged 90.5 ppg in their two ACC Tournament wins so far.

Duke vs Virginia Prediction & Pick

This side really looks like it could go either way, so the angle to play here really seems to be on the total. Virginia has a great defense, but Duke has really picked up the tempo in their first two tournament wins plus fatigue is going to set in on the defensive end for both teams playing their third game in as many days.
