We’ve got another Big 12 battle on tap Monday night when #17 Baylor (18-5) visits the Moody Center to face #10 Texas (17-4). Both schools took a break from conference play over the weekend, with BU outlasting Arkansas 67-64 but Texas falling 82-71 at #4 Tennessee in the Big 12/SEC Challenge. The Bears are +3.5 underdogs in this matchup despite winning six straight in the head to head series.

Before Betting on Baylor vs Texas

The Bears have gone 6-2 since a 77-62 loss at Iowa State to kick off Big 12 play. Those two defeats have come by a combined three points in an 88-87 loss to TCU and a 97-95 OT defeat to Kansas State and their recent record also includes six straight wins.

Baylor has the #2 scoring offense in the conference (78.8 ppg) – but Texas is first (80.0) meaning Monday night’s game comes down to which defense shows up better. These teams rank 8/9 in defensive points allowed, but largely because they both run a fast pace which is why taking the ‘over’ might be the best betting route here.

Texas got a great opportunity to see how they stack up with one of the best teams in the country this weekend in their loss to #4 Tennessee. It obviously didn’t go well in the 82-71 loss to the Volunteers but challenges build character, and that’s what the Longhorns are going to need on Monday night as they’ve lost 12 of the last 13 to the Bears.

Baylor vs Texas Prediction & Pick

Do the Longhorns simply have a complex against Baylor for whatever reason? Losing 12 of the last 13 to Baylor is mind boggling as is the fact that the Bears have covered the number in five straight head to head meetings. The Longhorns are 12-1 at home this year, but until they prove they can beat the Bears consistently you have to follow the past trends.

Pick: Baylor +3.5
