Friday Night Lights: Stanford hosts Washington

A pair of Pac-12 teams will mix it up in Palo Alto California, as the Washington Huskies take on the Stanford Cardinal. The Washington Huskies come into the game ranked 9th in both the Associated Press poll and also the College Football Playoff Rankings. The Huskies are 8-1 on the season, with their lone loss at Arizona State. The Stanford Cardinal have a 6-3 record, and are coming off a loss on the road at Washington State. The Cardinal are 5-2 in the Pac-12 North, and with a win would force a three way tie atop the division. Washington comes into this game as a 6 point favorite at MyBookie .

Cardinal Looking for Upset

The Stanford Cardinal are led by head coach David Shaw. The Cardinal have high expectations every season, but two early season losses lowered them for many. Then, Stanford won five straight before the road loss at Washington State. The Cardinal have California and Notre Dame left on their 2017 schedule.

Stanford is scoring 33.7 points per game and allowing 21.3. The Cardinal are one of the best rushing teams in all of College Football. The Cardinal are rushing for nearly 221 yards per game. Bryce Love is the leading running back, with nearly 1,500 yards on the ground. Love has rushed for 12 touchdowns as well.  The running back ranks second in all of the country behind Rashaad Penny of San Diego State in yards. The Cardinal quarterback is not used to pass the football much. In fact, quarterback Keller Chryst has yet to reach 1,000 passing yards this season.

Huskies Keep Rolling

A season ago Chris Peterson’s team went to the College Football playoff and were downed by Alabama. The Huskies would love another shot. Washington is scoring nearly 39 points per game, which is 13th in the country. But, in the lone loss for the Huskies this season, they scored just 7 points. The offense is gassed by the combination of Jake Browning and Myles Gaskin. Dante Pettis is the stud in the Huskies offense.

Browning needs just 93 yards to reach 2,000 on the season. The quarterback has thrown 16 touchdowns, with 7 of them to Pettis. Gaskin will need just 82 yards on the ground to reach 1,000 on the season. The running back has 10 touchdowns and has rushed the football 148 times. Washington wraps up the 2017 season with back to back home games against the Utes of Utah and the Cougars of Washington State.

Washington Beats Stanford

This game is going to feature a Washington team that wants to pass the football most of the game, while Stanford is going to want to keep the ball on the ground. In the end though, the talent level is swayed towards the Washington side. If the Huskies can keep Bryce Love from going crazy they are going to win this game. When you are placing your bet – take the favorite, despite being on the road. Bet on the Washington Huskies -6 over the Stanford Cardinal at MyBookie.
